Building
Now is really important. Always think about 'now' because it is actually all that matters. Now I am building my future. Now I am setting the foundations for my startup. The structures need to be robust. This venture must be sustainable in the long-term. If we are to have any real chance of achieving, and transforming the world of banking - more specifically what it means to be a banker, and the lens at which we serve the economy - we must assess holistically and realistically, and use these to enforce personal practicality. This does not mean I am a radical enthusiast, I think I just like the express delivery of ideas to reality.
This platform is still in stealth, I am not at liberty to even disclose the extent of my idea for the sake of capitalism. However what I will state is that 'capitalism' is my best friend in a sense, it is allowing me to focus deeply on the talented people to surround myself with, the competition of me against the behemoth institutions, the resource asymmetry, and it is giving me an innate drive.
Learning
Well I am currently studying in the University of York. University is a really thought provoking concept and i think my generational cohort is in a pivotal age in which attitudes to current educational systems are met with apathy, but for differing reasons. The main overarching reason despite tuition fees, the state of living (as seen via French riots), and the cost of living; clearly places the impetus of traditionalism. University is academic convention to some extent. Not in a negative way, but it creates opportunity. It can help create giant leaps in social mobility. I believe this, that is why I worked really hard to get into university in the first place. It does provide brain stimulation - we have a massive library - but I want to build real things. If I were to complete the tenure of my degree, could I effectively do so? What does the future of work and employability look like? Should we not rather use our youth to grasp the paramount technologies that the future of society will depend upon? Should we not praise initiative and facilitate those with the courage to think deeper, explore concepts, and who believe they can effect the world. Believe they can create a world.
This is currently a chain of thought which I know a lot of people think. Thus, I have decided to take the step. The initiative step. To study, study, and study. As much as I can I read. I love reading. I will read till I am grey. Currently I read academically dense topics. Imagine I switched the topics but retained the density, and decided to go all in on the career defining topics. Whilst simultaneously actually building the institutions around the idea. This is me. This is my now. I will not stop until my now is a positive past. I think that is the key concept of now. To keep going until your now is a positive past.
